It’s been 6 years since the Manchester bombing at the Manchester Arena where 22 people tragically lost their lives on 22nd May 2017.

I created a tribute piece of art a couple of years back and then another collection to honour their memory which can be found at Victoria Station around the main columns.

Early in 2022, I was asked again by Northern to create a piece of art (or design) that would be a permanent fixture on the overpass bridge at Manchester Victoria Station. Although I have already got a design on the opposite side of the bridge and knew what it looked like I was asked to meet with the station manager to have another look and go through some ideas.

The thing that immediately stood out to me was that there were 22 panels. I decided that this would play a key part in the design as my personal tribute to those who lost their lives in the terror attack.

I wanted to keep the overall design Manchester focused which was the theme I had been given but also add my personal tribute.

My plan was to create an abstract-style bee and I would have one on each panel. The finished design reads ‘I LOVE MCR VICTORIA’ – each panel has a letter or space with my new bee on it.

In August 2022 the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester unveiled my design to the public https://loveartpix.co.uk/an-art-unveiling-without-the-artist-30-08-22/

The 22 people who lost their lives on 22nd May 2017 will never be forgotten and this is my way of paying my respect and keeping their memory alive.
