Dare to enter the darkness to bring another into the light
This is another image I created to help shine more light on the child/human trafficking which goes on in the world everyday. Clearly this is a bigger issue than the media report on if you look at the stats – the fact the media don’t report on it is also alarming.
The image shows a faceless figure holding an abused teddy bear (which I use to symbolise childhood in all of these related pictures) whilst a you can see a dark room with a door slightly opening up in the background. Over one of the shoulders you can just about see the silhouette of some shackles, whilst on the other side there is a faint image of a bedroom window with a child’s rocking horse on the floor.
The figure can either represent the abuser who has stolen the child’s innocence & life whilst holding it in their hands, or represent the child who is now an adult and lost their childhood completely, feeling hollow & empty.
The first thing I thought when I see this picture is “you don’t know what happens behind closed doors” and the emptiness someone can feel! I love your work and how you can tell a story just by looking at your art!
AMAZING
Hi Caitlin, thank you for taking time to leave a comment.
Yes they say never judge a book by its cover & this is so true. Its a very dark subject which I feel needs more light shedding on it & I’m just glad I can express this through art.
