Having always been fascinated with Egypt & after cruising up & down the Nile many years ago I have to say that Rameses II is definitely my favourite Pharaoh. I was lucky enough to visit his world famous temple at Abu Simbel as well as seeing his mummy at The Egyptian Museum at Cairo. The picture I have created shows a close up of his famous Statue at his temple with the desert to the side with the sun rising through the clouds. I have added a picture of how he looks now in his mummified state faded in the skies with the stars of Orion’s belt behind him. If you look to the sand you can see the scarab beetle which I added as in ancient Egyptian religion the scarab was also a symbol of immortality, resurrection, transformation & protection. I always feel attracted to Egypt & love to learn of its amazing past, I would love to return there one day with my camera & see what images I could catch.
