The count down to Christmas for me is always a stressful time and I like to try to plan it best I can to avoid sensory overload – although I know this is inevitable. Halloween, Bonfire night then straight to the fast Christmas countdown – which then my sons birthday falls inbetween that and NYE, I feel it’s all go go go.
I received an email on the morning of Monday the 10th of October saying that I had been shortlisted for the Rising Star / Emerging Talent, This is Manchester award. This was amazing news but at the same time sent me into emotional overload as well as to many unknown factors with regards to the event etc.
For the next week I really couldn’t focus on much else and felt emotionally burned out. It took me until the week after to start to process it fully and adjust to it.
This is such a huge recognition for me, even to be selected by the panel of judges to be in the list of the final nominees for such an amazing award. This news came 4 years to the week, after I had started my Loveartpix journey, so felt like a real achievement. I feel Particularly proud because I am self taught with no guidance or training whatsoever.
The awards event was held at the prestigious Hilton Deansgate in Manchester on the 3rd of November and hosted by Jenny Powell and Scott Thomas.
It was a great honour to be at the event and around so much talent. This is Manchester awards put on an amazing night and the hosts and team did an exceptional job.
I got to meet so many great people and make some really good connections – which I feel them occasions are also about.
I didn’t get the award in my category, but as I’ve said from the start, to be recognised was a win for me already.
Congratulations to all the winners on the night, but I feel that everyone in that room who contributes to making manchester a greater city are all winners.
Having this recognition has only spurred me on and let’s me know that I am heading in the right direction.
I want to thank This is Manchester Awards and all the panel of judges for this great opportunity to be in the company of so many inspiring people.
