So i was asked by Lisa Dunnington (The Chair of the Board of Governers) of Ronald Mcdonald House Charities (RMHC) Manchester if i could help with putting together some artwork for the up & coming Virtual Charity event in November. I have met with Lisa before when i offered to donate 3 of my ‘Bees About Town’ Manchester collection to auction at this years up and coming event & help raise money for such a great charity. When I first spoke with Lisa on the phone I explained about my mental health & how it can affect me going out & how it affects me mentally meeting up. Lisa was very understanding which made our meeting a lot easier than most – since then Lisa has become someone I would call a good friend & very supportive.
Having a three year old baby boy myself it would be my worse nightmare if there was anything wrong with him & had to attend hospital (as it is any parents biggest fear – I panic if he gets the sniffles :s ) so obviously i feel that what the RMHC do is amazing & will help where i can with my art.
RMHC are an independent charity providing FREE home from home accommodation for families with poorly children in specialist hospitals in the UK & around the world. The Manchester House has 63 bedrooms which opened 8 years ago & during that time it has offered support to 1000’s of families.
The Manchester house costs approximately £750,000 per year to provide it’s core services to our families & unfortunately this year Covid-19 has impacted fundraising significantly. Although the annual Gala Dinner held every year is not able to go ahead, this year a VIRTUAL event will take place on 27th November. The event is called Black Tie & Slippers – Manchester’s Big Night In & hopes to raise much needed funds while providing guests with a great night full of entertainment, family stories & an opportunity to celebrate the positives from what is a very difficult year! Hopefully with the event being virtual this year it will reach a much bigger audience.
I decided i could help out with creating some social media posts & also images of the world famous Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets) who will be DJ’n at the afterparty.
‘Dez, the hugely talented Manchester born artist behind LoveArtPix has been a great support to our virtual event. He has donated 3 amazing pieces of artwork from his Manchester Bee collection which will be available to purchase in the auction, created a fabulous image for the Manchester House & been instrumental in creating the promotional material for the AFTERPARTY with Clint Boon’ – Lisa Dunnington.
