Reflecting on the past 6 years.. from going through my late autism diagnosis and discovering the power of art and creativity as a life tool, has been chaotic to say the least.
I have achieved so much yet feel I am only just getting started. Going through a late Autism diagnosis in 2021 (and then ADHD this year) has been one big life altering experience.
Art has helped me reach so many people in a positive light – for many different reasons. It has also helped me on my path to personal discovery and understanding who I am and where I find my role this world.
There have been far too many things that have happened in the past 6 years of my journey as Loveartpix for me to mention – some amazing, some good, and some really hard to deal with.
I wanted to list just a few highlights which immediately come to mind –
- Raising thousands of pounds through art donations to many different charities – including NSPCC, The Maggie Oliver Foundation, Anna Kennedy Online, Our Dementia Choir, The Normandy Memorial Trust and many more which I continue to do annually.
- Artwork I created for Our Dementia Choir being turned into cards for people to buy which continues to raise money for the charity.
- Artwork in public places such as Victoria station Manchester, Indoor football pitches, Schools and many more throughout the UK (reaching as far as the Normandy Memorial in France)
- Piloting the first Neurodivergent Art focus group of its kind for prisoners at HMP Manchester.
- Curating my first art Exhibition which will focus on neurodivergent conditions in the hope to raise awareness and better understanding. The Exhibition will take place in Spinningfields, Manchester early 2025 backed and supported by Savills and more. I have also collaborated with other neurodivergent artists to promote, support and showcase their talents sharing my platform.
- Being a finalist for 5 national awards (against talents like Lewis Capaldi and many others) and winning my first Autism Hero Award in 2023.
- A Documentary being filmed on my story covering my late autism/adhd diagnosis and how I use art as life tool to process my emotions – documentary short out late 2024 after nearly 2 years of filming with Eklectics.
- Being chose by an autistic student for her Art project for a final GCSE exam. Supporting the student who also passed with flying colours.
- In the process of setting up the first of its kind unique Neurodivergent Art focus group backed by global app Picsart.
- Creating blogs raising awareness of neurodivergent conditions which are shared on corporate websites and services throughout the UK.
- Supported many people who are processing a late diagnosis, helping parents of ASD children and supporting ASD children through art, blogs, sharing my lived experience and one to ones.
- Raising awareness and funds for Anna Kennedy Online through t-shirt design focused on being Neurodivergent.
- Attending the Royal invitation only declaration of the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester in 2022 and being part of history.
- Creating artwork for launch of Safestart School to inspire students which was unveiled by the Mayor of Ashton.
This list really does go on..
From being interviewed on radio stations, and interviews which have gone out in articles it is all in the constant pursuit of making positive change.
I have got to the point now where I am sharing more than ever due to trying to unmask and understand myself, but with this comes many struggles, struggles that hopefully help and empower others. I feel that people need to see the raw truths, regardless of if they believe it or not (unfortunately this what I and others like me are up against). I am still fighting my daily battles as well as the ignorance in society either way so I may as well be open and hopefully help others in the process. At times it really does take its toll and I don’t know how I will go on, which can get very scary. The truth is, I feel like I am throwing myself under the bus to make a difference, but what is the alternative? Sit back and hope things get better? I know from years of experience that if you don’t fight, nothing will change – I am actively fighting for change..
The fight gives my struggle meaning. Knowing I help others gives me purpose.
I hope that this is just the start and I can continue to battle on and really make a positive impact in society. To everyone who has helped me so far, thank you, i genuinely appreciate each and every one of you ❤️
Many congratulations @loveartpix. Be proud 👏 you deserve to be proud of what you have achieved in a relatively short time. I am.proud to call you my friend and my Bob feels the same. Brilliant blog Dez. I’m so proud of you my friend. XX
This post is incredibly inspiring, It’s amazing to hear how you’ve transformed your personal struggles into such a positive force for others through art. The impact you’ve made—whether raising funds for charities, supporting neurodivergent communities, or fighting for awareness—shows your dedication and strength.
I’ve also had the pleasure of seeing your work firsthand, and it’s truly inspiring. The awareness you raise through your art is so important and much needed in today’s world. Additionally, our conversation was equally thought-provoking, and it left me reflecting on the power of art to create change and connect with people on a deep, personal level.
Your vulnerability in sharing your experiences, especially with your late diagnoses of autism and ADHD, is empowering and a testament to your courage. I have no doubt that your work will continue to change lives and challenge societal ignorance from charities, helping supporting upcoming artists and those who are in the prison system.
Thank you for your tireless efforts and for being a beacon of hope and understanding for so many. Here’s to many more years of success and positive change! Happy 6th Anniversary

You have achieved so much and you are truly inspirational.
Talking with you has helped me to beable to know, I need to be more open about my neurodivergences with others and at times, rather than say nothing, if necessary, I can educate others to understand just how difficult daily life can be. We do need to continue fighting and it is, at times a continuous struggle. Through your inspiration, I will continue to try to do my bit.
Thank you Dez and congratulations.
